No parole for evil rapist who took girl from bath

EVIL bath snatch rapist Peter Voisey will stay behind bars after it was decided he is not safe to be released.

The vile predator was jailed for one of the North East's most terrifying and shocking crimes 20 years ago.

Voisey crept into a home in Willington Quay, Wallsend, and snatched a little girl from the bath, where she had been happily playing with her toys. He then drove the youngster away and carried out two horrific sex attacks before dumping her naked and crying for her mum in a dark, freezing back lane.

Voisey, was found guilty of rape, sexual assault and abduction at Newcastle Crown Court, by jurors who were brought to tears as they heard of the little girl's ordeal.

Despite handing Voisey, also known as Peter Smith, a minimum jail term of 10 years, the judge who locked Voisey up warned that he may never be released. And now, after the 54-year-old's sixth parole review earlier this month, a Parole Board panel has agreed that he is not safe to be back on the streets. Panel members also blocked a move to an open prison for the rapist.
