NEWCASTLE researchers are looking to see if a new mRNA vaccine can prevent a notorious stomach bug.

The team at the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for the over-60s to get in touch about taking part in a clinical trial for a jab that could stop norovirus.
Globally, the trial - known as Nova 301 - is looking to find 8,000 people to take part. The trial will see an “investigational” vaccine compared with a placebo jab to see if the vaccine can protect people from the often horrific stomach bug and its symptoms - which often include becoming violently sick.
The trial is a phase three clinical trial - which means the vaccine is at the final stage before it could in theory be made available to the public.
