Music festival really got the economy humming

A MAJOR music festival that brought Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon to Newcastle's Town Moor is expected to have given the city's economy a multimillion-pound boost.

Thousands of fans flocked to the Come Together Festival last week for two huge nights of music, which also featured the likes of Andrew Cushin, Perrie Edwards, and the Kaiser Chiefs.

And city bosses are now backing calls for the musical celebration to return next year.

City centre business improvement district company NE1 Ltd is still assessing the full economic impact of the festival, but said it would “love to welcome it and other events of this scale back to the city”.

Ben Whitfield, NEI’s director of communications, told The Journal: “What amazing nights! Newcastle knows how to put on an exceptional show, and it pulled out all the stops for Come Together last week.
