Inquiry will rule on plan for homes
The Journal
|July 07, 2025
A PUBLIC inquiry is set to be held into a rejected plan to build hundreds of homes on the Newcastle Heliport.
Councillors refused to grant planning permission for up to 356 apartments on the Skinnerburn Road heliport site, to the west of the Utilita Arena, last year - branding it "one of the worst" developments proposed in years.
But developer MB European Limited has appealed against that decision and hopes to have it overturned by the Government. The Planning Inspectorate has confirmed a week-long public inquiry into the proposals will be held from October 21.
