Historic mill and shop closes with loss of 28 jobs

A HISTORIC textile mill that had become an outdoor clothing retailer has gone into liquidation just a month after being put up for sale.

Otterburn Mills had operated two retail stores in Otterburn and Rothbury, but had faced ongoing challenges in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, with footfall in the shops not returning to previous levels. The unexpected loss of a key supplier, combined with rising costs and shifts in consumer shopping habits, placed further strain on the business.
