Football fan hospitalised after intervening in brawl

A MAN was taken to hospital after being punched in the head when intervening in a fight at South Shields FC's match against Scarborough last week.

The incident took place at the team’s Ist Cloud Arena stadium on Shaftesbury Avenue in the Bede Industrial Estate, with the injured man understood to be a Scarborough fan.
