Don't miss your chance to run in famous race

THE entry ballot for this year's Great North Run is now open, giving those interested a 'final' chance to secure a place in the world-famous half-marathon.

As previously reported, a first ballot for the 2026 event - the 45th - opened in September, with keen runners quick to snap up the extra early opportunity to sign up.

Now the traditional January ballot is under way for the September 13 Great North Run which is set to see a similar rush of applications. And the advice is to act fast as this final ballot will be open for just seven days and is to close this Sunday, January 11 at midnight.

The ballot will be drawn soon after this time with all applicants set to receive an email to confirm whether they have been successful. People can enter now online.
