Couple's 70 years of marriage after meeting at Butlins

A NORTHUMBERLAND couple who say the key to a happy and successful marriage is simply to "enjoy doing life together" are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
Robert and Evelyn Hudson were married on August 6, 1955 and have led a growing family spreading five generations ever since.
Evelyn, aged 92, and her husband Robert who turned 90 in June first met at the Butlins Holiday Camp in Filey, North Yorkshire, in 1952.
Newcastle born and bred, Evelyn told The Journal the pair "courted for two years, were engaged for a year and married the year after".
The couple then moved to Robert's hometown of Morpeth, where they have lived in their home for 60 years.
