Council chiefs approve new charity headquarters

GATESHEAD Council chiefs have approved plans to demolish the HQ of a local charity now new accommodation has been found.

The local authority's cabinet agreed to declare the former communal lounge at Redheugh and Eslington Court as surplus to its requirements and approve plans to bulldoze it. Both tower blocks are also earmarked for demolition as part of a wider programme to redevelop housing in central Gateshead.
