DAN Burn is believed to be one of the “leaders” who Thomas Tuchel has in his mind ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

- By LEE RYDER

Burn’s journey from Blyth youngster to Darlington via clubs like Yeovil, Fulham, Birmingham then on to Brighton and Newcastle is the stuff of dreams.

Youngsters in the area idolise the towering defender who headed home at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final to write his name into Geordie folklore and eclipse some of the biggest names in Newcastle history.

It is a journey that has bordered from the sublime to the ridiculous at times, but Burn has taken it all very much in his stride. As the booze flowed after the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool, Burn clutched a can of Coca-Cola with his England call-up his only focus.

The Newcastle United defender, alongside Jordan Henderson, are deemed to be among the stars who are expected to be first on the plane to the US, Mexico, or Canada next year if England, as expected, make it to the finals for the 2026 edition of the greatest show on earth.
