Building of datacentre campus set to start soon

WORK on the first building of the £10bn datacentre campus at Cambois in Northumberland is set to get under way in the new year.

The vast project, delivered by US firm QTS, will cover 5.8 million sq ft of space across 10 buildings.

The site will be built out across the next decade, providing a significant number of long-term construction jobs for the area.

As part of the deal to purchase the site, QTS owner Blackstone has agreed to finance a £110m fund for local employment, paid out in tranches as certain milestones are hit.
