Brewery toasts new wildlife alliance

A NORTHUMBERLAND brewery's newest beer is set to aid conservation efforts for one of the UK's most threatened mammals.

Allendale Brewery's new Red Squirrel Ale will support efforts to preserve the characterful rodents in the North East.

Situated on the edge of the North Pennines, the family-run brewery in a former lead smelting mill takes inspiration from its surroundings and already has beers named Golden Plover, Wagtail and Pennine Pale.

Its Red Squirrel Ale uses roasted malts to lend a hint of nuttiness, and Goldings hops to bring flavours of orange and hedgerow berries.
