Armed police swarm street after 'four loud bangs'

POLICE taped off a street after “loud bangs” were heard by terrified residents in late-night drama on a Gateshead street.

Officers are said to have flooded an estate in Winlaton after reports of “four loud consecutive bangs” were heard in the area on Thursday night.

Denton View was a hive of activity at around 10.40pm with armed police, dog units and forensic officers called to the scene.

Police cordoned off the street and were present all day yesterday, with the probe continuing into what has been described as a ‘disturbance’
