90s nostalgia rekindled as Byker Grove returns

NEARLY 40 years after it made its TV debut, Byker Grove is making its return to screens later this year.

But rather than air on its original home at the BBC, the reruns will be launched on ITVX after being streamed on STV Player.

The Newcastle-shot series made its debut on CBBC in 1989 and became an instant hit with viewers, as youngsters and their parents quickly became hooked on the exploits of members of the Grove which wasn’t actually in Byker, but Benwell, the other side of Newcastle.
