Sinhala version of ‘Democracy in Debt: Sri Lanka - Beyond the Headlines’ screened at USJ

The Sinhala version of Beena Sarwar’s international documentary ‘Democracy in Debt: Sri Lanka - Beyond the Headlines’, which was produced and translated into Sinhala by Priyantha Pradeep Ranasinghe, was screened at the Sumangala Hall Auditorium of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on the afternoon of July 29.

The screening of the film and a subject-wise special discussion were held for the students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, organised by the Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication.

Dean, Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda and Pakistani multimedia journalist Beena Sarwar, who produced the original film and is currently based in the US, delivered lectures there, while senior journalist Priyantha Pradeep Ranasinghe, who dubbed it into Sinhala, also participated in the event.

Dr. Shenesh Bandara Dissanayake also presented his views. Senior Lecturer Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe and a group of lecturers also joined the film viewing.
