Four-time champions England were on the ropes in their Women’s World Cup clash against Pakistan at R. Premadasa Stadium as they slumped to 79-7 in 25 overs before rain swept across Colombo on Wednesday.

Pakistan, winless and languishing at the bottom of the points table after three defeats, came out all guns blazing to turn the tables on the mighty English. Under leaden skies, their seamers made the white ball talk, exploiting every hint of movement to keep England's batters hopping about.
