Road in house blast ‘must remain closed’

A MAJOR road serving one of Halifax's main supermarkets has been closed for four months following a house explosion - and senior councillors say it must remain so for the time being.

Spring Hall Lane, Halifax, remains closed following the house explosion four months ago.

Former councillor Andrew Tagg had written to senior councillors calling for the road to be reopened.

He said Spring Hall Lane serves Halifax’s main Asda supermarket.

Spring Hall Lane was closed on June 26 due to a large house fire on Spring Hall Grove, which is just off Spring Hall Lane near the lights of Albert Road across from Asda, said Mr Tagg, a former Conservative councillor.

He said the damaged house sits at the back of other houses.
