MICROBREWERY WANTS TO CREATE CRAFT BEER TAPROOM AT HISTORIC STATION

- By ELIZABETH MACKLEY & JOHN GREENWOOD Local Democracy Reporter

PART of a Grade II-listed railway station could be transformed into a taproom serving beers from a local brewery - along with guest ales.

However, Darkland Brewery will need to convert part of a waiting room at Hebden Bridge station into a crucial cold store, if planning permission is granted.

The brewery, situated just outside Halifax, has submitted an application to Calderdale Council requesting listed building consent for the alteration. The brewery's team say they have devised a proposal for the empty unit with two main aims - creating a taproom that “respects and complements” the station’s historic character and ensuring the venture is viable and sustainable, warranting a long-term investment.
