MOTHER'S ANGUISH ON SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF DISAPPEARANCE

- By MAXINE DENTON

THE broken mother of a Plymouth man who went missing two years ago says she does not want her son to be forgotten.

Daniel Mizzi vanished on December 8, 2023. His last known moments were captured on CCTV in St Ives.

His desperate family are still searching for answers and believe there is someone out there who knows something.

Despite their tireless efforts to find a clue to his whereabouts, nothing has been uncovered.

Daniel's mum, Karran Minchinton, says she will never give up looking for answers, despite saying they have had no updates from the police in the last 15 months.

"The police don't even talk to us anymore," Karran said. "The person in charge of [Daniel's] case hasn't spoken to me for about 15 months. They don't answer their texts, they don't answer their emails."

Daniel was seen on CCTV at Plymouth train station at about 10.30am on December 8, 2023. Then at 12.08pm the same day he was spotted in St Erth.

The last known sighting was at 1.38pm that day on the western side of Porthmeor Hill in St Ives. Just before Porthmeor Hill and the beach car park, he was seen heading west.

There have been no sightings of Daniel since. There has been speculation that he may have headed towards the South West Coast Path but no-one knows for sure.

At the time there was a large-scale police search with helicopters, drones, boats and divers but no trace of him was found.

His mobile phone was switched on until 6.40pm and it pinged off the telephone mast at Camborne - although it is not thought that he was in that area.

It is understood that the areas of Porthmeor Beach all the way through to Porthmeor Cove and across the moors - covering Zennor Tor to the Men-an-Tol - were searched. Men-an-Tol stands out for the family, as Daniel is a big fan of band The Levellers and one of their songs is based on this historical Cornish landmark. However, there is no evidence he walked this far.
