Argyle secured a third successive 1-0 away win in all competitions and picked up three much-needed League One points as they beat Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. The decisive moment of a match which had few attacking highlights came in the 61st minute when striker Owen Oseni slotted home from a tight angle after nicking the ball away from Wycombe goalkeeper Will Norris.

It was the first time since September 27 that anyone other than Lorent Tolaj had scored for the Pilgrims and it was a crucial one in the context of their season and the struggles they have been having.

Tolaj sat out the second of his three-match suspension following his red card in the recent 3-0 defeat by Northampton Town at Home Park as Oseni came up with good determination and a cool finish to get the winning goal.

Argyle came under late pressure from Wanderers but they continued to defend strongly, as they had done all game, and clinched a victory which moved them one position up the table to 22nd.

The pair of Brendan Galloway and Brendan Wiredu were recalled to Argyle’s starting lineup against Wycombe, in place of Bali Mumba and Joe Ralls.

Mumba dropped down to the substitutes’ bench and Ralls, who made his full Pilgrims’ debut in the 1-0 defeat by Bradford City at Home Park on Saturday, was missing from the matchday squad. Tegan Finn was called up as one of the seven substitutes.

Finn and Xavier Amechi, who made his comeback from a long-term hamstring injury in the second half against Bradford, were the two attacking options on the bench.
