PLYMOUTH MP Fred Thomas has written a letter to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson demanding an apology to the people of Plymouth for his "broken promises" over funding for Derriford Hospital's planned new A&E department.

MP Fred

Mr Thomas, the MP for Plymouth Moor View, accuses Boris of misleading the community over the issue.

The letter, on House of Commons headed notepaper and dated 28 th October, states:

Dear Rt Hon Boris Johnson, "I am writing to demand an apology to the people of Plymouth for your cynical false announcements about funding for a new A&E at Derriford Hospital. You misled my community, leaving nothing but a trail of broken promises.

"Derriford desperately needs a new A&E department. But your unfunded promises have delayed developments and misled the public. It is now clear that only a fraction of the funding needed existed.

"You manipulated uncertainty to mislead our community into believing the funding was there. The money was never there. Suggesting otherwise is a disgrace.
