NEIL DEWSNIP ON ARGYLE'S VICTORY OVER LEICESTER CITY

- CHRIS ERRINGTON

JUST WOW!

NEIL Dewsnip paid tribute to Plymouth Argyle’s players for sticking to the game plan and being difficult to break down after their magnificent 1-0 win against Championship leaders Leicester City.

In a match where Leicester dominated the possession, the relegation-threatened Pilgrims played for their Championship lives to limit them to few clear cut chances. Argyle had only a few attacking opportunities of their own but, crucially, they took one of them in the 21st minute with a fabulous low finish from Mustapha Bundu.

The Pilgrims are not safe from the drop, even after moving on to 48 points with three more games to play, but beating title-chasing Leicester will have given them a huge boost of confidence and self-belief.

Dewsnip said: “We knew exactly how difficult it was going to be. We knew we were going to play against an outstanding football team in possession of the ball.

“We had a game plan and thankfully for us this evening that has paid off. I think when you are playing a team of Leicester City’s quality you are going to need a bit of luck along the way, I guess we had that.

“I thought Jamie Vardy had scored right at the end but it just flashed across the goal so it was our night. I’m delighted for the players, they have worked incredibly hard, harder than probably they realised they could. Wow, just wow!”

Leicester had 70 per cent of the possession during the game and forced 13 corners but Argyle limited them to just four shots on target with a superb defensive display full of grit and determination.
