SIX LEADING CITY POETS TO ATTEND CULTURE SHOWCASE
-
PLYMOUTH’S leading poetry organisation is back - but it's “not” the Language Club.
The Language Club, which brought many of the UK’s top poets to Plymouth and nurtured dozens of the city’s best writers between 2000 and 2024, may have staged its final event a year ago, but the team behind it is staging an event called Not the Language Club.
The free-to-attend showcase will spotlight six of the city’s leading poets - all of whom have had books published in 2025, or have one about to come out.
The list includes Kenny Knight, Melisande Fitzsimons, Brian Herdman, Spencer Shute, Ed Tapper and Language Club co-founder Steve Spence.
