'Inspirational' artist's work in new exhibition

TOUCHING tributes have been paid to a talented South Hams artist, who inspired countless students to embrace drawing and painting.

Jennifer Johnson, who died last year after a long battle with cancer, moved to the South Hams in the 1970s, and was made President of Salcombe Art Club in 2023.

Her son Christopher Derrick said she was "devoted to art", with one of her great passions was working and tutoring outdoors.

She will now be the subject of a retrospective exhibition of her celebrated artwork at Salcombe Art Club next month, which will raise funds for St Luke's Hospice, who cared for Jennifer during the last days of her life.
