TYLER Borthwick fired 12 ton-plusses that came during Plymouth City Super League Division B leaders Raffles A’s 10-1 win at Duchy A.

- By JAMES COOK

The 180s in the contest went the way of Borthwick’s teammates, Adam Fell and Adam Truscott, whilst the latter also played a part in the fireworks at the business end of legs.

Truscott teamed with Logan Carroll to put away 601 points in just 16 darts during a 2-0 doubles win, with the best over the 501 distance fired by Kori Truscott in a 3-1 reversal.

Niall McGarvey led Clifton’s charge to a 9-2 win versus Staddiscombe with ten ton-plusses with the two standout moments of his haul included a 127 checkout and a 180. McGarvey’s stablemate, Andy Pengelly, showed sharpshooting in the finishing stages with 99 and 130 outshots, whilst the only moment of magic from the defeated side was a 190 from Callum Fradeley.

Liam Taylor's ten ton-plus haul included the game’s only 180 for Victory B as the away side secured a 6-5 triumph at Victoria. Gary Eaton's 3-0 singles success for the defeated party included the best leg of 501 in the contest, with an 18-darter contributing to his win.

Two 180s and an 85 finish from David Young couldn't arrest Indian B's slide to a 7-4 loss at the hands of King Billy B, while Bluebird B returned from their trip to Kings Arms A with a 9-2 win that was accentuated by maximums from Jon Parsons and Dan Hurley.

Parsons’ 180 came in a 3-0 singles win that also saw him plunder a leg in 18 darts, which was matched by teammate Owen Cook, who also added an 80 finish.

Maximums from Ian Heggie and Paul Tackle, as well as Roger Bailey's 18-darter and 129 checkout, provided some of the sparkle that led Ker St A to an 8-3 win against Herbert A.

Dave Carroll’s 80 checkout gave Herbert B their only noteworthy moment of a 10-1 win over Ker St B, whilst every leg went to Hyde Park in an 11-0 win versus Duchy B.

Older drivers tend to be the safest on the road

REGARDING recent newspaper reports about compulsory eye tests for the over-70s, as we have to renew our licences every three years anyway, I really cannot see that this will be a problem for most people of that age.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Although I am well aware that social media is largely an echo chamber that will feed back to you what you search for, there are no shortage of videos and articles about fashionable dressing for men, while vintage clothing is no longer merely bagged up and donated to charity shops but can yield high prices on re-sale sites such as eBay and Vinted.
