US firm behind Roomba robot vacuum files for bankruptcy
The Guardian
|December 16, 2025
The US company behind the Roomba robot vacuum has filed for bankruptcy protection and will be taken over by one of its Chinese suppliers.
The business, iRobot, which launched Roomba in the early 2000s, will be taken over by a subsidiary of its main supplier, Picea Robotics.
The company said it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of a restructuring agreement with Picea.
Its earnings have come under pressure in recent years owing to supply chain problems and the rise of cheaper competitors. It had warned earlier this month it could face bankruptcy.
