Raw milk, LED light treatment, tomahawk steak and a bafflingly large cuddly toy. They sound more suited to the conveyor belt of the Generation Game than part of a Premier League star's routine, but as the Manchester City striker Erling Haaland recently revealed, these are some of the things he credits with his success.

Haaland recently shared a video of his daily routine which he believes keeps him at the top of his game, on and off the pitch - but what would they do for a Guardian journalist? Could it provide a glimpse into how to get an amazing physique, a boyish appearance that belies his real age - 25 - and a reported net worth of more than £50m? It was time to find out - for a day, at least.

Morning begins with a nice simple cup of coffee - "a superfood in my eyes if you do it right," says Haaland - with a splash of (raw) milk and a sweetener. Which doesn't sound that bad. But then, after opening the carton of raw milk, I knew this wasn't going to be a brew to savour. Hard, curdled blobs of fat sat on top and a tangy scent escaped the bottle. I reluctantly poured the milk into my coffee and, soon after, an oily film settled on top.
