Redcar have all the Wright ingredients to make it a top season

A BUZZING Charles Wright is confident that Redcar Bears can expunge memories of previous high early-season expectations which have come to nothing and finally land themselves the Cab Direct Championship title and more this year.
The campaign at the ECCO Arena gets under way tomorrow with a tough Tyne-Tees Trophy challenge match against a select representing the now sadly defunct Newcastle Diamonds.
What for years has been a bitterly fought local derby is now very much an act of charity, pairing the rival clubs once a season, with the Bears' once bitter adversaries represented by a side of genuine former Brough Park favourites.
Bears number one Wright, preparing to kick off his eighth season across three spells with the Teessiders, reflected on his 2025 teammates, four of whom - Danny King, Jason Edwards, Jake Mulford and himself remain from last term.
"Bringing Erik (Riss) back is what we needed as we were missing that high-scoring support for me and Danny throughout last year," said the 26-year-old club captain.
