Red-hot Stott claims classy Redcar treble

JOCKEY Kevin Stott took the hon-ours on Redcar’s penultimate meeting of the season with a treble yesterday.

Stott began his hat-trick when Ski-athos built on the promise of coming second on his debut at Redcar by going one better in The racingtv. com/freetrial EBF Novice Stakes.

The son of the late Wootton Bas-sett kept on strongly to defy the challenge of Richard Fahey’s slow starting North Force.

“He's very much a horse for next year. He’s immature and can only improve,’ said winning trainer Karl Burke, who revealed the two-year-old is heading to the sales.

Burke had started the day with a Group 3 winner at Chantilly with Half Sovereign, a filly who had started her career with a debut fourth at Redcar in June.

Stott made it a double when Woodleigh, trained by Roger Fell, made the most of a step up in trip to get up close home to beat another Fahey runner, Hashtagnotions, in the Market Cross Jewellers Handicap (Division One).

“Everything went pretty smoothly. He's been a bit of a monkey, but it was the first time over a mile and a quarter and he loved it. He loved the ground too and he’s done it really well,” said Stott.
