Pedestrian area at pub could be built by summer

WETHERSPOONS has said that they hope to have part of a Middlesbrough street pedestrianised by next summer.

Victoria Road is located to the side of The Swatters Carr, with the establishment facing onto Linthorpe Road.

A year ago, planning permission was granted to the pub giant to create some additional outside seating capacity.

While details of the proposal are still being finalised, and there is no definite timetable, a spokesperson said they will work with Middlesbrough Council to move forward, and stated an ambition to see the new area open in time for next summer.

An update was sought from Wetherspoons, as a year on from getting the green light from planning to part pedestrianise the road, no visible works had been undertaken.
