Murder trial jury told bike row led to fatal stabbing

A TRIAL has heard that murder accused Andrew Clark chased John “Bamber” Donaldson and stabbed him in the heart.

It is alleged that the two men began fighting on a Middlesbrough street, after an argument over a bicycle.

A jury at Teesside Crown Court has been told that Mr Donaldson borrowed Clark's bike, to cycle to his local shop to buy some lemonade, on November 21 last year.

But the court heard there was a dispute over who the bike actually belonged to, and that Mr Donaldson failed to give it back.

Nick Dry, prosecuting, told the court that after the alleged attack: “Mr Donaldson was crying out in distress, his life ebbing away, as the defendant left in a Mercedes.”
