Jones facing two months out of action

ALFIE Jones has undergone surgery on the ankle injury that's kept him out of Boro's last three games - with the defender now set to miss around two months of action.

Jones suffered an ankle injury in training ahead of the Blackburn Rovers draw on Boxing Day. The defender attempted to play through it but was forced off early in that game and has missed Boro's three games since.

Jones was expected to have a spell on the sidelines as a result, though initial indications were that surgery would not be required. However, after further examination by a consultant, it was decided that surgery would be the best course of action.
