A COUNCILLOR says he is “pestering” for required improvements to one of Teesside’s busiest roundabouts and a “dangerous” exit for motorists from a nearby village.

'I keep pestering on roundabout,' says councillor

The Greystones roundabout near Eston is at the intersection of the A174 Parkway and the A1053 Greystone Road and is regularly clogged with traffic at busy periods.

The roundabout is included in Tees Valley Combined Authority [TVCA] proposals, which are designed to address traffic flow in the area and cope with increased activity from the nearby Teesworks industrial site.

But while an estimated £40m worth of funding was recently green-lighted by the Department for Transport, the cash is not due to be released until 2027.

Cllr Stephen Martin, an Eston ward representative on Redcar and Cleveland Council, said: “I keep pestering on this and have only got so far.

“I am not a highways engineer, but we do need to see improvements sooner rather than later.
