'I can't even swim, but I had to do something'

BRAVE MUM PLUNGED INTO FREEZING SEA TO SAVE DROWNING GIRL

A MUM-OF-FOUR rushed into the water at Redcar beach to save a youngster who had been pulled out to sea and was screaming for help.

Louise Petrie was on the beach with her own children when she saw the young girl frantically waving after being pulled out by the tide. She ran into the sea but was overcome by the cold and shock.

Louise, 32, was joined in the rescue mission by a passerby. The man, keeping his cool, threw a life ring to Louise who managed to get it on to the girl and pull her out of the water. She said she didn't manage to get the name of the man who helped her, but said he was a true 'hero' and is thankful for what he did.
