'Hero' landlord saved drinker by giving CPR

A PUB landlord has been hailed a 'hero' after giving lifesaving CPR to a customer who collapsed while enjoying a drink with his family.

Colin Gardner was in The Nuthatch in Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon when he fell onto the table having suffered a cardiac arrest.

While his panic stricken loved ones shouted for help and began dialling 999, pub owner Simon Hatfield sprang into action and started administering CPR on Colin and managed to get him breathing again before the ambulance arrived.

Colin's daughter, Victoria Gardner, said it was Simon's quick actions and courage that saved her dad's life and they can never thank him enough.
