Excitement is starting to build for the Winter Games

As we move in to 2026, we have another Olympics and Paralympics, this time the Winter Games in Milan-Cortina.

The reason for it being a split site is to be able to host all the different disciplines required. This is the first time it is formally hosted by two cities. It has been done before but there has only been one named city. In London 2012, the sailing was at Weymouth and Portland. In Atlanta in 1996, they went for using more of the state of Georgia to host events.

Of course football has always been held in various cities because of the size of venues required.

It used to be that the Summer and Winter Games were held in the same year but in 1986 the International Olympic Committee decided to alternate the Games, which they did after 1994.
