Defibrillator is destroyed in 'mindless act'

A COMMUNITY defibrillator has been pulled from the wall and destroyed in a 'mindless act' of vandalism - leaving the community more vulnerable over the Christmas period.

DS43 Community Defibrillators, a charity launched in memory of Hartlepool cricketer Danny Shurmer, confirmed it's most-deployed, potentially lifesaving device has been broken into pieces.

Trustees were informed by a vigilant member of the public on Monday morning that the case for the defibrillator at the West View Project, in Miers Avenue, had been pulled from the wall.

The defibrillator itself was later found in a field to the rear of the property, unusable and in 15 pieces.
