MIDDLESBROUGH are beginning the process of identifying their next head coach after Rob Edwards’ decision to leave, but they are yet to identify a number one target despite reports suggesting Gary O'Neil is emerging as the primary candidate.

The former Boro midfielder has recently made clear his desire to get back into management, having ironically walked away from talks with Wolves before they turned their attentions to Edwards. Now, a new report from Football Insider has suggested that he is emerging as Boro's number one target.
