Armed forces liaison duo praised for their 'passion and pride'

A COUNCILLOR says two new roles created at his local authority aimed at supporting armed service veterans and their families are "brilliant" and has spoken of his pride at the outcome.

Eston ward councillor David Taylor was the author of a motion agreed in December, last year, which called on Redcar and Cleveland Council to strengthen its commitment to veterans as well as serving personnel.

Cllr Taylor, who spent five years in the Light Dragoons and is one of the organisers of the annual Remembrance Day parade in Eston, said an armed forces covenant previously adopted by the council - a national promise to ensure fairness and respect for those who have served or are currently serving and their families - should be more actively promoted with more organisations encouraged to sign up to it.
