US-based tech giant's Cebu expansion to create 500 jobs

U.S.-based tech care provider Asurion is ramping up its presence in the Philippines with plans to launch a new contact center in Cebu City by late 2025.

The expansion, recognized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on June 5, is expected to generate at least 500 new jobs, further reinforcing the country's position as a strategic hub for high-value global services.

The announcement was relayed by Asurion General Counsel Grant Mullins during discussions with officials from the DTI's Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Washington, D.C., including Commercial Counselor Kenneth Yap and Minister and Consul Hans Siriban of the Philippine Embassy.

The Cebu site is slated to support the company's expanding U.S. market, where Asurion provides smart device insurance, technical support, and repair services to more than 100 million customers-approximately one in three U.S. households.
