Understandable but also inexcusable

Felipe Diano, the barangay captain of Basak, Mandaue City, is now in the limelight after he was filmed riding his motorcycle without a helmet.

As per a story in this newspaper, a netizen filmed then uploaded a video of Diano riding without his helmet a few days ago, along a highway in Barangay Basak. Diano would later say he was rushing home for an emergency after being told electrical sparks in his house almost caused a fire.

The netizen said the video was uploaded not to defame Diano in particular, but to call attention that motorcycle riders, most especially public officials, must always follow the rules.
