Thousands of maritime jobs up for grabs at Marino expo

Thousands of job opportunities for Filipino marine professionals will be showcased at the Marino World Manning Expo and Conference (MWMEC), taking place from September 29 to October 1 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The event comes at a time when international shipping companies continue to seek out Filipino seafarers, who now account for an estimated 25 per cent of the world's 1.9 million maritime workers.

Industry analysts forecast demand for over 90,000 additional officers globally by 2026, with Filipino mariners well positioned to fill a significant share of this gap. Shipowners cite their technical competence, English proficiency and adaptability as factors that have cemented the Philippines' role as the largest single source of maritime labor worldwide.
