Central Visayas Police Regional Director, P/Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, said Manto fled to Metro Manila, after the incident, as there was a region-wide manhunt against him.
-
Maranan said it was Manto who allegedly shot Deiparine to death, citing the accounts of witnesses.
Manto and two other suspects are now under police custody, while four others are the subjects of ongoing manhunt operations.
The CIDG, meanwhile, is investigating to identify the people who helped Manto escape to Metro Manila.
CIDG director, P/Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II, said giving justice to Deiparine is among their top priorities.
"Ngayon na namatayan kami ng tao, lalo naming idi-dig up ang past criminal activities nila," Morico said in an interview with reporters.
Manto was flown back to Cebu to face the charges filed against him and his cohorts.
SUSPECTS' WIVES VISIT CCPO
The wives of the three alleged suspects in the fatal Sudlon shootout visited the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) at Camp Sotero Cabahug in Cebu City yesterday, hoping to see their husbands.
In separate interviews, the three testified their side and denied allegations regarding their husbands' involvement in the shootout in Sudlon.
Alias "Bing", 44, the live-in-partner of Manto, said that she went to the CCPO upon learning that her husband was already turned over to the local police station after his surrender in Pasig yesterday morning.
Bing emotionally shared that their family is now worried for his husband's condition as well as the trauma experienced by their child, particularly their 18-year-old daughter who was left at their home when the incident occurred.

Show me the law on "Senate Protective Custody"
It is my honor and privilege to concur with my former DOLE boss, former Senate president (for three times) former senator for 24 years, former secretary of Justice and former DOLE secretary Franklin M. Drilon, that there is no such \"animal\" as Senate Protective Custody in the annals of our legal system, to justify the momentary avoidance of arrest by the NBI operatives who were on official mission to enforce the International Criminal Court warrant of arrest of Senator Ronald Dela Rosa.
