SSS warns vs. scams, bares landmark pension program

The Social Security System (SSS) has urged its members, especially pensioners, to be on guard against scammers attempting to steal their personal data and bank information.

In a recent press briefing, SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph de Claro stressed that scammers don’t only target the agency but also other government institutions and private companies.

“We always remind our members: SSS will never call, text, or email to ask for personal information,” he said.

De Claro noted that pensioners are often singled out by fraudsters, as many of them are elderly and less familiar with digital systems.

“It is truly evil to prey on them,” he said, while clarifying that members’ funds are kept in partner banks and not within SSS itself.
