Private firms urged: Inspect buildings for possible damage

As assessments of structures continue following the recent earthquake, the Cebu City Government is urging private companies to have their own buildings inspected before resuming full operations.

Councilor Dave Tumulak, chair of the City Council's Committee on Disaster, said three days after the tremor that inspections of public structures are still ongoing to determine their structural integrity.

While the city government is focusing on schools, markets, and other public buildings, Tumulak called on the private sector to have their safety officers conduct similar checks.

"So sila mu-report lang diri sa atoang office kay we have accept nga dili ing-ana kadaghan atoang mga structural engineers," he said, noting the city's limited manpower.

He added that if private engineers discover issues, the city will provide technical advice.
