Paolo Contis hopeful 'Dear Satan' film will still be released

Paolo Contis and Hollywood actor Jack Black coincidentally played Satan in separate movies last year. In both films, they receive a letter from a child who misspells “Santa” as “Satan,” and use the typographical error as an opportunity to deceive the sender while posing as Father Christmas.

That’s where the similarities end, according to Contis, who has seen Black’s similarly comedic turn as the demonic entity in “Dear Santa,” which was released digitally worldwide and on Paramount+ in the United States. “We did ours [‘Dear Satan’] first before we found out [there is a Hollywood version]. Our concept is way different from theirs. Ours is more Filipino,” he told The FREEMAN after the Cebu premiere of his film “ConMom” with Kaye Abad and Patrick Garcia, which like “Dear Satan,” is produced by Mavx Productions Inc.
