Pam appeals to Cebuanos: Don't hold rallies, caravans

BARICUATRO

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has appealed to Cebuanos to refrain from staging rallies, caravans, noise barrages, and other major public demonstrations during activities related to the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Tourism Forum, which officially opened yesterday.

In a post on her official Facebook account, Baricuatro said such activities could disrupt traffic, strain security forces, and affect the smooth conduct of the international gatherings, which are expected to draw global attention to the province.

She stressed the need for cooperation from residents to ensure that Cebu presents itself as a gracious, capable, and peaceful host to visiting delegates and observers.

"I am asking for your help to ensure the ASEAN Summit on January 28 and 29 hosted in Cebu is a resounding success," the governor said.

Specifically, Baricuatro urged the public to avoid participating in caravans, noise barrages, and rallies during the summit period.
