OCULAR CONFLUENCE

The Cebu-headquartered Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines Inc. (PASPI) and Galerie Raphael red-lettered November's calendar of creative fetes in Cebu with “Ocular Confluence” — an art-for-a-cause exhibit that pledged funds to benefit Typhoon Tino survivors.

Featuring the works of Dawn Lozada, Beverly Teves, Jayson Droña, Adrian Perolino, Jovelle Mae Jaca, John Paul Abejar, Jose Basicas Valladolid and Kent Laurence Tauto-an, the show was more than a presentation of visuals, but a collection of “living testimonies” artworks that serve as vessels of introspection, resilience and cultural memory.

Driven by PASPI’s devotion to excellence, philosophical depth and the enduring power of storytelling, the exhibit was equal parts practical and conceptual, and was largely reflective of the group’s predilection to explore the ever-expansive world of art whilst mastering the intricacies entailed in portraiture.
