More kindergarteners expected for SY '25-'26

More kindergarten learners are expected in the new school year following the amendments done by the Department of Education on its enrollment procedures.

Republic Act (RA) No. 10157 or the Kindergarten Education Act of 2012 mandates the equal opportunity for all children to avail themselves of accessible, mandatory, and compulsory kindergarten education.
To improve access to Kindergarten education, DepEd amended a portion of its enrollment stated in a department order in 2018.
From the age qualification for kindergarten learners of five years old by October 31 of every calendar year, the DepEd is now giving some consideration to those born after the cut-off date.
DepEd said school may now consider learners entering kindergarten who will turn five years old from November 1 to December 31 if they have completed an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECDD) Program for one school year.
