Marcos endorses Gwen, One Cebu slate
The Freeman
|May 06, 2025
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially endorsed Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and the full slate of One Cebu candidates during the One Cebu People's Rally held yesterday at the jampacked megadome in Dumanjug town, southern Cebu.
The President raised the hands of the One Cebu candidates as a gesture of his formal endorsement.
Joining Marcos at the rally were Alyansa senatorial candidate and former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, as well as Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla, who represented her husband, reelectionist Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.
During the event, Governor Garcia affirmed One Cebu Party's full support for the 10 senatorial candidates of the Bagong Alyansa ng Pilipinas.
"But if we really think about it, even within one family, we all think differently. We're not the same. And I won't pretend otherwise. In our family, some of us share the same mindset—but even then, others still differ in how they think and act," Garcia said in a mix of Visayan and English.
"And so, in deference with the President and because I do believe this Senatoriable is ready to defend Cebu—I say we support Erwin Tulfo," she added.
Her declaration came despite differences with Tulfo’s brother, incumbent Senator Raffy Tulfo, over issues concerning the Cebu North Bus Terminal.
